Henry Portrait

Appears in:
Series 1, Series 2

Played By:
Reece Shearsmith

Quickie Bio:
Very much into watching movies -- either renting them or going to the movie theatre. They prefer violence. They don't mind pestering other moviegoers (especially Haig during a screening of Krzyztof Kleslowski's "Trois Coleurs Bleu").

Useless Trivia:
  • Henry's name comes from the movie Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer. Steve had gone to see the movie, but the people sitting behind him were quite noisy (at the killer's first appearance one shouted, "Hello Henry!"), so all obnoxious movie-goers were called "Henrys" from then on.
  • Henry and Ally are based on Steve and his brother as kids. "How many killings?" is apparently a direct quote from when they would go into videostores and quiz the clerk on their choices.
  • Director Steve Bendelack and then-Associate Producer Gemma Rogers were the "actors" in the movie Henry and Ally attempt to watch in the theatre

  • Quotes:
  • Seen, seen, seen, seen, seen...
  • Re: the movie Seven: "He kills one by gluttony, one by greedy, sexy...ugly, sleepy, dopey and bashful"

    Haig

    Appears in:
    Series 1, Series 2

    Played By:
    Mark Gatiss

    Quickie Bio:
Attempts to watch a movie, but is constantly interrupted by Henry & Ally.

After his horrible movie going experience he went a bit batty, so he moved back in with his mother (according to the Series 2 commentary). While on a landscape-painting excursion with her, he made the mistake of stopping by the local shop, hoping to get a can of Coke. After explaining to Tubbs & Edward that he was on the moors to "capture the sun" in his paintings, they think he's there to capture their son, David. They take him inside the shop to become David's new playmate.

    Useless Trivia:
  • Haig is named after David Haig -- apparently they talk similarly.
  • Director Steve Bendelack and then-Associate Producer Gemma Rogers were the "actors" in the movie Haig tries to watch (although Henry and Ally bother him throughout)

    Quotes:
  • Don't be too long, darling. You'll miss the light!
