Hilary Briss | |||
Appears in: Series 1, Series 2 Played By: Mark Gatiss Quickie Bio: The owner of Royston Vasey's butcher shop (H. Briss and Son), he serves up his mysterious "special stuff" to select clientele only. Upon tasting it, his customers are hooked. His male-only clientele include important people in the town (the police, the magistrate, councilors, etc). In Series Two the town is hit by a mysterious plague of usually-fatal nosebleeds, and it is eventually discovered that Maurice's wife, Eunice, has been taking the special stuff and cutting it with her own paste, then selling the burgers from her stand. A sad but determined Hilary leaves his wife (who turns out to be a cow) and flees the country, setting up shop in Jamaica . In Series 3, Geoff can be seen reading a newspaper with the headline "Caribbean Nosebleed Mystery" -- so I guess Hilary didn't leave his troubles behind in Royston Vasey... Useless Trivia: Quotes:

Maurice Evans | |||
Appears in: Series 1, Series 2 Played By: Steve Pemberton Quickie Bio: Maurice is a magistrate who does not want to try the special stuff, even though Hilary and Sam keep trying to get him to take a taste. He resists temptation for quite a while, but Hilary (like a drug pusher) eventually manages to get him hooked. In Series 2 we discover that Maurice's wife, Eunice, has opened a sandwich shop (The Nibble Box), and that she has been using the special stuff in a mixture of her own making. It causes most townspeople to come down with nosebleeds, many of whom die. Although Maurice is afflicted with a nosebleed, he apparently survives the epidemic, because Eunice talks about him during her stint in Clitclink. Quotes:
